Moontide handmade beaded necklace by Tempered Earth, featuring baroque freshwater pearls and brass accents in a gold dish.

Moontide

Inspired by the relationship between moon and sea, Moontide moves from warm brass into freshwater pearl like ripples dispersing across water. Soft and luminous, it’s an invitation into tenderness, intuition, and receptivity.

Undertow handmade beaded necklace by Tempered Earth, featuring black sandcast beads and brass accents on a woven natural-fiber surface.

Undertow

Undertow looks beneath the visible surface of the sea, toward the quieter currents moving below. Black African sandcast beads and glimmers of brass evoke deep water, volcanic sand, and fleeting light—a meditation on grounding, stillness, and that which isn’t immediately seen.

About This Offering

This first Offering was inspired by the element of water, Cancer season, and the act of returning to ourselves. As I began gathering materials, I found myself repeatedly reaching for weathered textures, shades of teal, warm brass, soft ivory, and things that reminded me of the shoreline and the sea.

During the Cancer New Moon, I also found myself reflecting on Yemayá and what she represents: care, depth, protection, and the vastness of the ocean. I didn't set out to create a collection about her, but those reflections naturally guided my hands as I worked.

The materials gathered for the Offering include artisan Kenyan brass heishi beads, African sandcast beads, reclaimed freshwater pearls, gold cowrie pendants, Baule-style brass elements, and gold-filled accents. Together, they created a material language that felt weathered, luminous, tactile, and connected to the natural world.

Offering No. 1 is a small collection of necklaces—an exploration of adornment as remembrance. To me, a necklace can feel like both protection and invitation: something that rests close to the heart, gently reminding us to return to the body, the breath, and the present moment.

Each piece was handmade by me in small quantities, with intention and deep respect for the traditions, artisans, and materials that helped bring it to life.
